Nike Training Club (NTC) App Review

7/17/2015

Day 1..........

For the first workout of my recently renewed fitness journey, I decided to try the Nike Training Club app that I found in the App Store on my iPhone:

The reason that I decided to try this app first was because it was Free........yes......FREE and it offered many workouts with different Goals:

(Goals)
With the app, you can create a 4 week program or just jump into one of the workouts (which is broken down into 4 groups, "Get Lean", "Get Toned", "Get Strong" and "Get Focused").  After you choose your group, you can pick the level of your workout, Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.  The workouts range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the workout.  I decided to just jump into it and I chose the "Get Strong" option and picked the "Intermediate Level".  I decided to pick the "Squat Party" workout which was only 30 minutes.  With particular workout, you have to use dumbbells or a resistance band (but honestly, you can do this workout with no weights at all).  Once I picked out my workout, I had to download the workout in the app (this maybe a problem with some people depending on the how much storage you have on your phone/tablet).  After the download, you can make a music playlist through the app or use use from another source (I used a workout playlist from Spotify).  After I was setup, I began the workout:

I have to say that I was very pleased with using this app.  The workout moves were not hard to do (and it also provides an example to how to do the moves if you don't know how to do it) and I love that I didn't have to keep looking at the screen throughout the whole workout since they provide vocal coaching on the moves or motivation.  Each workout move/set was about a minute and then I would go into the next move:

I also had a pretty good calorie burn for a 30 minute workout:

I would definitely recommend this app for people who wants to workout in the comfort of their home or you could also use this app while you are out and about (like the park, when you are on vacation, and etc.).  Their is also a community feed on the app where you can follow other people or your fiends and cheer on people that is working out or unlock an trophy (you can unlock a trophy by how many minutes you workout). The app is available for free on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).
