Daily Facial Skin Routine (For Oily, Acne Prone Skin)

8/17/2015

I have really oily and acne prone skin so my facial skin routine is always changing up.  I have a routine that is going pretty good so far.  My morning and night routine are pretty simple but I would like to share what I have been doing so far:

In the morning, I put some Organic Coconut oil (about a 1/2 tbsp) on my face and rub it in a circular motion around my face for about 2 minutes.  After I'm done, I take about two baby wipes to wipe off the coconut oil.  Once I'm done with the wipes, I take a paper towel to pat my face dry and then apply my facial products.  Since I have acne prone skin, I first place Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment over my face (about a pea size) and after that, I follow up with Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Moisturizer to keep my face from getting dry.  The next step that I do is to apply the Garnier Fructis Dark Spot Corrector to any dark spots (old acne spots) on my face.  The last step is to just add my E.L.F Eye Refresh serum or my homemade eye cream (will share recipe in a future post) under my eyes:

After I'm done with my routine, I usually put on my makeup or just go out with a bare face.

At night, it's usually the same routine but with just one change:

If I am wearing makeup or just because my skin is very oily by the end of the day, I will use the Coconut Oil and baby wipes to remove my makeup or the oil build up.  After that, I will use my Clarisonic Mia with Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Bar Soap to remove any leftover makeup or oil :

Once I am done with my Clarisonic, I will rinse off my face with warm water and use a paper towel to pat my face dry.  I will finish my face by continuing my facial routine as I mentioned above.

Every other night after I wash my face with my Clarisonic, I will use a facial mask by Freeman Beauty to deep clean and conditioner my face:

The only other thing that I may use from time to time, is a toner (which ranges from 70% Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Astringent, and etc.)

  1. Thanks for posting this! Typically I have normal to oily skin, but lately my skin has been so oily. I can only attribute it to all the humidity where I live. I use spectrum coconut oil. I also use it time to time to remove my makeup. Does using the coconut oil on your face make your face oily after you wash it off? My Clarisonic has helped with reducing my oily skin.

    1. Surprisingly, my skin is not oily after using Coconut oil (which really shocked me). My skin feels really clean and soft after I use it.
