My Running Essentials


Since I started my 5K/10K journey, I have a few things that I use each time I run to help me out with my training and also keep me comfortable.........

I already discuss the running apps that I use for my training but today, I want to talk about things that I use during my runs.

One of the most important things that I use are my Nike Lunarlon Shoes:

I have been having these shoes for awhile but I finally putting them into good use.  They are so comfortable and my feet doesn't hurt when I go for my runs.

The second biggest thing that I bring with me is my handy dandy water bottle:

This is a Nike water bottle that I got from Marshalls for a really great price.  This water bottle holds about 12 oz of water (a good amount for my short runs) and it's BPA free.

Next is my leggings and my jogging pants:

My pants has come in handy since it's been pretty cold in Texas.  I love my leggings/jogging pants because they keep me warm during my runs but also don't feel to heavy.

Music helps me so much push through my runs and my workouts in general so of course, I have to have my headphones and my playlist when I hit the trail.  I got these iFrogz Audio Bluetooth Headphones from Ross last year and the reason I got these was that I could listen to my headphones without the hassle of cords.  For my music, I use my playlist from Spotify that I use through my iPhone.

I talked about my FitBit in a previous post and this really has come in handy with my runs.  I use my FitBit to track my steps and distance so just in case I don't use any of my running apps, I have this to keep up with my runs.

The last thing that I use (well what I use after my run) is Isagenix IsaPro Vanilla Whey Protein:

After my runs, I am usually beat (no energy) so I take a post workout protein shake to help replenish my body while adding protein.  I will admit that this is not the best tasting protein powder but it does get the job done.

Well that was just a small list of my running essentials for the winter and I will do another post in the future of products that I use in the spring - summer.

  1. I always like seeing what other runners are using. I was pondering the use of a protein. Wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. Glad I read your post!
